he is 2 months old i feed him a pinkie live every 4-5 days is that ok ?

For all pythons you should be feeding them every 7-10 days. For male’s that will be bred, every fortnight and females, once a week.

correction that may be power feeding b/c you decide what they eat by the width of the girth () and since we havent seen how big the girth is no one should be saying what size. Is there any chance of posting a pic?
BTW if you don’t no, the girth is the widest part of a snake.

A pinkie is way too small. a small mouse should be good .

You should repost in the Ball Python forum... a BP can eat an adult mouse right out of the egg.. it should never be fed a pink. Please repost in the BP forum where there are people who BREED these snakes that will be more than glad to help. I wouldn’t feed a mouse b/c BPs are imprint feeders.. once you go mouse... that is what they will want...seriously.. go to the BP forum..we’ll be glad to help.

I agree that an adult is too big and a pinkie is too small, but... what’s wrong with a ball python getting imprinted on mice? What are they supposed to eat? Burritos?

I’m not sure that’s entirely true, but I do know that I have gotten finicky ball pythons to eat gerbils when they refused mice and rats.

At 3-4 months old mine were both eating small adult mice.

Hoppers are what BP hatchlings are usually started on,
feeding them every 4-5 days.

An apropriate size prey would be the size of the girth (widest part of the body),
or slightly smaller.

Snakes will fast, if over fed.
They will Starve, if Underfed!

As far as "imprint feeding"
some snakes will eat just mice,
some snakes will eat just rats,
some don’t care either way.

Hampsters are like candy to BPs... and some times can be hard
to get them back on mice/rats, after being fed hampsters.
