How should I use a under tank heating pad and a dome light?

These guys (one male one female) are gonna be my first snakes. I have a heating pad and a dome light. I know that the heating pad goes on the warm side but where should I put the dome light? Also any suggestions for a first time snake owner would be great!!! Thank you!!! =D

What snakes are you getting? How big is the tank? How big is the heating pad?
I think if the heat pad is big theirs no need for a heat dome..
I only use heat lamps on my chondros because they are aboreal and dont use the heat pads but thats just temparary because I might selll them or keep them and buy them new cages with heat panels.
( im most likely to sell them )
So just fill us up with that info and lets see what we can help you with.

2 baby BP’s.
55 gal tank
8.5" dome light
and a heating pad made for a 50-60 gal tank.

I say their fine with just a heat pad, but if you want put like a 50 watt light on the hot side and leave the rest of the tank cool.
