Rainforest Green House 8D
so what if I created that space? Here’s my thought: I build a huge green house. Tall and wide. I put bunches of natural, live rainforest plants in it. Then, I create a running stream which then runs into a a still pond. I would have trees and low shrubs and water plants. Then, once it’s stable I put rainforest animals in it. Ones that be naturally living together in the wild. That’s one thing I need help with. I’m going to list what I want to put in there and you tell me if I can. They all need to be rather docile Chameleon(What kind?) Anoles Turtle(What kind?) Red eyed tree frogs Dumpy tree frogs Green tree frogs Fish(Black ghost knives or neon tetras or discus) fire bellied toads And now an EXTREMELY questionable one: Jungle carpet python These are simply options. I would have tall, sturdy trees and little shrubs. Now for the care: humidity would basically stay at 80-90 and temps 80-90 I would dump different kinds of rainforest insects in there. Do you think maybe a thousand or two would breed and produce enough food, or should I dump like, a thousand in weekly or something? as for the snake, I’m a little worried about it eating the chameleon or something. I give it rats by hand (Even if I have to climb a tree) to make sure it was full so it wouldn’t attack anything. JUST TO CLARIFY, I AM VERY UNSURE IF I WOULD EVEN WANT IT IN THERE Now for dimensions. This is just a very very very loose example. Very flexible Two chameleons (Male, Female) Four Anoles (1 Male, 3 Females) One Turtle(MAYBE) 3 Red eyed tree frogs 4 Fire belled toads POSSIBLY a female carpet python This is just to get an idea, I’m not sure what I can keep in there. What dimensions would I need for that amount of animals? With the carpet python? Without the carpet python? Any suggestions, opinions, comments, constructive criticism, even nicely telling me it’s the worst idea you ever heard, or questions is welcome. Any bashing, screaming, non vulgar name calling, or vulgar name calling is NOT so welcome. |

Just be sure you research carefully what kind of environment each animal inhabits in the wild. You will definitely need multiple basking sites. |

im no expert but i would have. 2 chameleons, panther or jacksons ( suited to the environment) 2 turtles, ( soft shells would be nice, or if your feeling rich, some mata matas) 6 or more red eyed tree frogs, or whites tree frogs. ( to establish a colony, whites would be larger and hardier) day geckos the good thing with these, is that there active time doesnt correspong with the tree frogs, so the day gecko will not have a go at the tree frogs) if you want to keep a snake maybe some small tree snakes. they do feed on frogs, but all snakes will try and eat something in there. if you really want a boa, maybe a dumerils or ground boa. to avoid conflict with arboreal species, a ball python etc. to be honest i think a carpet python or rainbow especially would be awesome, but its give or take, you have chameleons and pythons, ones gonna go. chameleons arent cheap, to me it would be a snake or chameleon, a snake in my opinion would cost alot less, would be hardier, and would give you more visual pleasure. chameleons are elusive in large spaces. And having bred them, i know all to well how hard they can be to keep with anything else, even another chameleon. maybe think about keeping a smaller snake that cant prey on a large lizard, and think about an iguana !! the possibilities are almost endless thanks for asking this question, ha, its given me a lot of enjoyment thinking about the possibility! hope this helped. harry |

How would you make sure all animals got feed well?? If its gonna be BIG the majority of the animals will die because they will not be able to find food.. Anoles they are survivors and eventually if you have a hundered or so they will breed and breed lol As for the turtles and fish thoes will be easy to clean but what happens when you have to clean their 100 gal pond ( or bigger) What about cleaning that BIG green house its going to take up A lot of your time! It doesnt sound like a good idea to me.. Well if you have the time to manage all these animals go for it but eventually something will happen that you wont like... |
