And at the other hand... I’ve got a coastal carpet who couldn’t care less about cats, and cats have always either run away from her or gotten along fine with her. Except for one who I had to keep an eye on because he’d always end up wanting to swat her tail when she was climbing. I can see that not ending well. Whenever she’s met a cat, she acted no more interested than if she met a new human. But she HATES dogs. I have no idea why, but she is terrified of them. Not only do I not enjoy scaring snakes, but fear can easily motivate violence, so once I learned how she feels about them I just made a point of keeping her away from dogs from then on. If yours has a similar problem, then it may be better to find out under controlled circumstances than to let your guard down and get taken by surprise one day when your dog runs into the room. While a bite on the nose is minor in the grand scheme of injuries, no dog really wants to be bitten on the nose. Plus, it may well decide to retaliate. |
