 Anyone Else?

hi, im Harry, im 15 from england.
im probably going to get a lot of stick, maybe abuse for asking this.
i have kept 30 or more reptiles in the past. by selling i have whittled my collection down to two baby carpet pythons, a soft shell turtle and two tortoises.
my passion has always been rainforests and habitats and live in the feild. ive been lucky enough in my life to have been to costa rica looking for animals, botswana, tanzania and trinidad and tobago.
i have always known that my future would be in the feild, wether its working with monkeys, reptiles, crabs, even to plankton, i dont know, but i will be in the wilderness studying and finding ways to stop persecution and habitat loss of animals.
so my question is, because i have been fortunate enough to have seen so much, i slowly have found myself nt losing interest, but gradually getting tired, frustrated and feeling i am being restrained, by the hobby. it is not that i bash anyone who keeps the animals, as i have done for years, and i still do and love it. but i am starting to feel like the keeping of reptiles is holding me back, and the animals im ny cages are rendered useless to me and themselves. i just want to get out there in the feild and see them. i want to help them in the feild, and ensure there survival for years to come. i am struggling to come out with what i am trying to say. but i guess im starting to feel that the hobby is useless, and that all my efforts are being wasted on keeping them in cages, when i could be ensuring there survival, not one animals survival in captivity.
so basically does anyone else feel this way?

i realise the people on this website mainly keep their animals as pets, and are in love with the hobby. i am mainly trying to reach out to the people that wish to take the hobby a step further and work in the feild.
thanks for reading this incredibly long post.
Harry.

Some people are happy with our little hobby. Some people want to be out in the field messing around with the wild animals. Everyone has different things that make them happy... if you like being out in the field helping wild populations, you need to gear your energy towards that and learn as much as you can in school to get a job doing what you love. As for me, this hobby has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I’m suitably happy with my pets and as I’m going farther and farther into the hobby, it just gets better and better. Do what you love, what makes you happy and you will have a rich life!

you need to look at keeping animals itself being conservation. someday many of the animals around the world you will only be able to find in captivity. there are animals already that are basically extinct in the wild and you can only find in captivity. this hobby in a way ensures the ultimate survival of many animal species.
