 New Russian rat snake

We bought a Russian rat snake hatchling today, a female, and have named her Tatiana as she had to have a Russian name! Here are a couple of pics - not great as I just took them before settling her into her new home. Does anyone else here keep Russian rats? She’s a great little snake.

Thanks Fergie - yes I can’t wait! She’s going to get big and be much darker than this. We chose a Russian because they are supposed to be so inquisitive and "friendly" (if you can call a snake friendly), even more personable than corns. It’s funny to think of her being 6 feet.

I commented on her in the corn forum, but I’ll go ahead and do it here, too.

She’s very pretty, and I can’t wait to see how she progresses. Congratulations!

Thanks Candy Corn! I always forget to look on the rat snakes forum myself so I assume other people don’t either and posted on both, but will have to read and post more!

Aw thanks, and don’t worry, I still post on the corns board as although I don’t have any any more, I learnt so much about them that I like to keep it up!

I realize this is an old post but not many people on here keep Russian rats which surprises me because they are so docile. I just thought I would add my Russian rats picture too. Her name’s Irina which means peace in Russian and she is one of the calmest snakes I own. The older she gets, the brighter her yellow becomes. She is about a year and a half old now.

Wrigley... just to let you know... Irina does not mean "Peace" in Russian... Sorry. Perhaps it means that in some other language.. but definitely not Russian.

RCMMM ... Keel the Russian Rat in the cold... lolololol.
