Questions Needing Answers! - Green Rat Snake.
Aloha, I’m getting a snake here soon. I really love the color green! So I was looking at some Green Rat Snakes, what tank size do they generally require? No intiate lighting, right? And usually about 4-6 feet? Are they any different then owning a Corn Snake? They are just so beautiful!!! How is their temper, same as a Corn Snake as well? I hear their both quite similar... Please help me though!!! XD

Questions Needing Answers! - Green Rat Snake. These guys can be very difficult, most are wild caught and die very consistently. It’s not parasites it may simply be stress but the die off is a serious issue, I had 4 and they all passed away in two months. One ate a f/t rodent, got it’s head into it’s hide and simply died right there. That being said cb is a whole different animal. The adults I had were aggressive, difficult to get to eat, and just generaly a hard snake to keep alive. One had 4 eggs, 3 hatched, and two of those snakes are the simplest things I’ve ever delt with. The have taken f/t instantly, are very calm, and after talking to others this seems to be the norm. If it were me and I wanted to get a "green ratsnake" I would either get a captive bred or captive hatched red tailed green ratsnake, or a e. climacophora (japanese ratsnake) both would be very good captives. I keep mine in large rubbermades with a hide, waterbowl and something to climb on for adults. Avoid the wc animals they are one of the most difficult animals to keep alive I have delt with and others hold the same view.

Questions Needing Answers! - Green Rat Snake. Most snakes that come to mind when you say GREEN rat snake aren’t for beginners. The only one that you could have success with is the greenish rat snake. It is a natural integrade between black and yellow rat snakes.
