Are they good pets Love’em all, I personally think they make great pets, a little more active than some corn snakes and kingsnakes atleast during the day, most of’em are well tempered to start off with, there are a few rats that can be nippy from kids but when they grow up they are all awesome pets.

Are they good pets Love rats snakes. After wild caught garter snakes and ring-necked snakes, rats were the first store bought snakes I had 50 years ago when I started this hobby. Corns, black rats, grey rats and even yellow rats - although some of the latter can be nasty - make great pets. I had two wild caught black rats which never bit and no corn I ever had ever bit me. My yellow rat was also quite tame and ate chicken eggs along with rodents. The gray rat I have had a docile temperment.
I have two large Beauty snakes and they are very tame.
And I would rather be bitten by several rat snakes any day than by one mouse or hamster.
