 ID this snake, please.

I’m pretty sure this is a rat snake, if so what kind is it? Found in central Texas.

Pics a little fuzzy but it looks like an emoryi (great plains rat snake) and yours looks like the subspecies of emoryi known as Meahllmorum. Some common names other than great plains rat for the meahlly’s are scrub brush rats and Mexican rat snake.
Does it look like these pics?




They are fiesty at first but calm down real well and make good pets. Mine came from Neuces County,TX. What county is yours from?

I was thinking great plains, he’s got an attitude alright. I found him on my back porch between my house and an empty aquarium. I fed him two large pinkies and he ate them within half an hour of catching him.Coryell county.
