 My sick Rat Snake

Ripley, my 5 year old Albino Rat Snake has been acting and sounding very strange lately. She used to stay in her hide all the time, now she lays over the heat pad and under the heat lamp constantly. She seems very weak and larthargic.
The bad part is the sounds she is making, almost a gasping noise. You can hear air expelling from her lungs every few minutes. Loud enough that I can hear it from across the room. Its almost like air coming out of a tire but in short little bursts.
Im thinking she may have some sort of respiratory infection, she has been a fussy eater but has always been in great health.
Does this sound familiar to anyone here? There are no vets that really know how to treat snakes in my area so seeking vet help is not easy.

Thanks

Temps are good, she is going through a rough shed so I am keeping the humidity high.
Maybe it has something to do with the shed or she is shedding because she is not feeling well.

I had a Boa that done the exact same thing... was going through a horrible shed... although my humidity was decent. The skin around his face was very loose.. and when he exhaled... the air moved between his new skin and the old loose skin causing this whistling effect... and yes it was very loud. On a brighter note... once he did shed... the sound stopped... so... if your temps and humidity are ok... I would think that is what your problem is... but after the shed.. if sound continues... it is definitely time to seek out medical advice. Good luck and I hope everything works out for you

After almost 3 weeks she finally shed. Probably the best shed she has ever had, one solid 7 foot skin.
She looks brighter and her pattern is more visable then ever, she ate like a savage the day after.
The noises have stopped and she is back to being normal and healthy so I guess it was what you said.

Thanks
