 New rat snake owner

Well I just got a ratsnake from the reptile store, and what does it happen to be, but a red tailed green rat snake. He is so called captive bred but he still aims for the hands and actually bit me already but not on intent to harm, but to eat. He was in the store and they couldn’t get him to eat so I told them let me try to get him to eat and I got him to eat young mice that just grew hair and he kept eating like a horse at a trough, and I moved him and he aimed for the next warm object to eat. He is not perfect right now... since he has some healing mouth rot and some slight upper respiratory that I will take him to the vet to get checked on. I am sorry I don’t have a pic or could even post a pic on here yet, but he is a very skinny, silver phase, with small dots of yellow and beautiful green eyes.

By the way I know that is not a beginner snake, but I have kept pitophis for 2 years, 4 different types. 2 six foot long cape gopher snakes, an albino bullsnake and a western pine and I read all info registered to keep that rat snake

I’ve never seen the silver phase. The normals are great-looking.

There is a silver phase on youtube. They are generally just gray with a normal colored head and are mainly from Java or at least originated from there. Just go to youtube and look up gonyosoma or redtailed green ratsnake. He is pretty mellow for now and had him soaking in the tub to get his shed off since they are notoriously known for complicated sheds.
