im thinking about getting a leuistic texas rat snake.any pointers or tips?

Yes. Read the care sheets on this website and kingsnake.com. Buy everything you need and have his/her home set up before you bring him home. And when you do bring him home, take some pics and post them here so we can see how cute he is, then put him in is home and don’t touch him or feed him for 1 week. As a personal rule, I don’t handle my snakes until 48hrs after their second meal and keep them on paper towels until after their 3rd meal, then aspen, but that’s just me. Rumor is that they can be a bit nippy, but my girl is all sugar. Good luck.
