First snake I just received a rat snake from one of my friends that they didn’t want this is the first snake that i have had I would greatly appreciate any advice and help that anyone has to offer. I have the snake in a 20 gallon tank with paper towels and a bowl for water. Also I don’t know if the snake was store bought or caught from the wild it hasn’t bitten anyone yet but does get uncomfortable when being held and it coils back when I take it out of the cage.

First snake U should make the cage set up as close to his habitat as possable n i perfer 50 gallon tanks for my snakes its always nice to offer as much room as possable also add branches flat rocks for hiding some nice fake green plants outdoor carpet for bottom, n im sure u know heat lamp in winter .however if hes alittle bit nervous thats ok cornsnakes adapt very well to captivity n become very friendly with alot of handeling. good luck
