 Help! Good rats gone bad!

When I came home from school today my granfather told me that all 5 of my female rats had escaped their cage and trashed the room! There was pillow fluff all over the floor, the couch had holes in it, the ckairs were chewed, they found the treats, and their cage(only cage) had a huge hole in it! My rats are always so calm. They have never escaped from their cage before! My grandfather had reached into the cage to get the one that went back in and it bit him so hard that it made him bleed! They have never done that before ether! Luckily they were caught and put in a large plastic bin, but i am afraid that they will chew out of it. Now they are in a plastic bin with a lid and air holes. I dont know what to do! They dont have a cage, my family wants to get rid of them, and i have to whatch them until 10:00 to make sure they dont get out. I really need help. i need to find a way to stop the one that bites from biting and i need to know how to repair the cage or to make a new one.

what type of cage is it and how big is the hole? pics would be very helpful in trying to come up with a way to fix it. and if the rat that bit him has not done that before, my guess is that they were all really worked up after their big escape and when he grabbed at her he problaby caught her off guard and scared her. i was bit by one of mine after he had escaed..he was all worked up and when i went to scoop him up he chomped down out of surprise. he never bit before that day and has not tried since.

we put a piece of metal over the hole
the rats r back in theire cage
and they r still all hyper. but i think they will calm down soon.
and the cage was wire with a plastic bottom so they dont hurt their feet. the hole in the plastic was about 4 inches across and big enough 4 my largest rat 2 fi through.
