#1638663 Scruffy~n~sage View Profile	Blindness in red eyes Is there a direct link to eye color and blindness in rats? The reason I ask is because later in Fawn’s life she showed symptoms of blindness, although it was never confirmed by a vet. Fawn was a tan hooded odd-eyed female with a white stripe on the right side of her face, if this helps.

Iv had plenty of old red,blue eyed rats and have never noticed them to be more susceptible to blindness because of their eye color.... Blindness in a rat is either going to be because of a genetic disposition to it(as in would affect a normal rat too),or from an injury. Not because the eye itself is lacking melanin...
