Any threads or advice for rat breeding beginners

How big should I house them in?
Where can I find the food for them?
Should I seperate them if different sizes?
Are there any growth charts of how fast they grow from stage to stage?

I have no experience in breeding rats but hoping to breed for my ball pythons!
Thanks guys!

Well for mom who is about to have babies I know many breeders who will keep her in a 10g until she is ready to wean the babies (about 4-5wks, or basically when babies are eating on their own) otherwise you can make your own cage from a plastic tub and some mesh for ventilation... its rather simple and fairly cheap too... or you can buy a cage from the store (preferably one with out wire, hurts their feet to walk on and babies can fall out sides of most cages...) otherwise my advice is be prepared for anywhere between 1 and 30 babies per litter, make sure you seperate them, give mom a break between litters what I would do is get 3 females, have one prego/nursing and then the other two can be together and not be lonely... also get 2 males, dont want dad lonely either... and best of luck to ya... i have had times where I had like 60+ rats cause they just kept coming (good breeding season) and others where male/female were together for months and NOTHING... be prepared for both... right now (which is spring here) is usually a good time for breeding (they naturally breed about now in wild)
