 Rat food??

Hi, I just have a quick question. Someone gave me some left over hamster/gerbil food that they no longer needed and I was wondering if I could give this to my pet rats. I hate to throw it away if it can be used. It looks like that dry corn and misc seeds. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

It’s not rat food and it’s not fine for them in my opinion. Corn is a waste food, a filler and can contain a mold that’s deadly to rats. Personally I wouldn’t waste my time feeding that mix but if you do, suppliment it with lab block, good quality dog food, etc. Rats have much different requirements for proteins, fats, etc. than gerbils, hamsters, mice and so on.

IMO it probably wont hurt them but what I would do is mix it in with what you normally feed them... that way they do get good food as well as whatever the gerbil food is lol

 Rat food??

thanks everyone. I just wanted to make sure. There’s not too much of the food, I just figure I may as well use it if I can. If anyone else wants to add, I appreciate the advice!
