 Mice babies!

yay! my mouse finally gave birth! so that was my first time encountering that. am i not supposed to bother her? or can i look at them? no touching? and she doesnt seem to be eating them. so thats good.

you can touch the mother to see them but just don’t touch the babies then she will probably eat them. when they start getting fur you can hold them but be careful they like to jump! lol.

You really shouldnt disturb mom aside from food/water for the first week... especially if shes a first timer... as for the babies they should be weaned around 4wks... just watch them at some point they will drink from the water bottle and start nibbling at the moms food... this is when they are getting weaned... and can be removed about this time, it also tends to depend on the size of the litter smaller litters tend to wean faster than larger ones but generally its by the 4th wk.... i counted 6 heads. but that doesnt mean there arnt more underneith them. is that a small liter? b/c im not sure on the age of the mom or it its her first?

That is on the small side, mice litters can range from 1 to 15 (at least those are the sizes I have had) I believe 6-8 is considered average, and they should be weaned around 4wks if not sooner just watch for them to be eating moms food and put the water bottle down where they can reach around 3wks (if its not already) GL

so far so good she hasnt harmed or tried to eat any of them. so this might be a first succsess
