 My latest litter and breeder setup

Well, I don’t think I’ve ever posted pics of my breeders, so here they are :) Here’s my breeding setup for my female, Bee. Pretty simple. GreatBallzofFire, this is the bowl nest I was talking about.

And here’s what it looks like when you lift it up! I finally got a black male, so that I had a little color variety. White was getting boring...and I also give my mice straw to make nests with.

I love it! The bowl idea is great. Your daddy mouse is pretty, too. I’m excited to see what kind of babies I get from my white dad mouse and my two brown girls.

The bowl nest is inspired! I have gobs of old plastic bowls; now I can put them to another good use! The dry grass is great, too, as it keeps the nest together when the bowl is lifted off. I’ve got 20 tubs, and the biggest chore is making the cardboard nest boxes. Not all my tubs contain breeding harems; some have weaned litters and extra females or males being kept for the coat color.
I like the male’s little bird house, too. I’ve been just leaving the male in with his harem, but in order to cut down on the population I think I will start keeping the males separate, and only keep about five, not ten like I have now, and rotate them as needed. When I first started raising mice it seemed they would never have babies, but now I have the exact opposite problem! LOL!
Today is mouse tub cleaning day and mouse gender sorting day. Tomorrow I’ve got a big delivery to my friend with the three foot Savannah monitor, breeding bearded dragons, and even a baby western rattlesnake he found in the parking lot at his workplace. So he is using all sizes of mice, from big pinks to adults.

Wow! You’re certainly going to be busy. Yeah, the straw keeps the nest together very well and I think the females like building a nest. I just use straw from our farm, and I freeze it for about 2 days.
