I just noticed some babies. I got these mice from the pet store when they were supposed to have been rats. I’m glad I kept them. I will try to get a picture up later.

Well even though she ate her babies another mouse had babies and last time I checked they were all alive. I counted 5 but she still looked really fat. I’ll post pics later if they aren’t eaten.

She had seven babies. When I got her from the pet store she was already pergnant. Why is it that the pet store can get the mice to breed but I can’t. But any ways they look good.

Hope all goes well with this litter.
How I get my mice to breed: put one to three females (sisters raised together) with one unrelated male, and in about one month young appear.
If you can describe your set up, maybe I could suggest some helpful modifications.

They have a food dish, a house, a water bottle, and some toys. There are 1.4 in each tub. The calculator at thefunmouse .com recomended 6 mice so I only put in 5. I make sure they always have food and water. I do not know if they are sisters but the male and female are not related.

Your set up looks nice. I got a kick out of the little gymnastics balance beam thing! They would love an exercise wheel, otherwise I can’t think of anything more to add, except maybe a cuttlefish bone to gnaw on and get calcium. Sometimes it just seems to take awhile to get the ball rolling with mice breeding, then they take off and before you know it you need more snakes!

You can buy cuttlefish bone in the bird section of the petstore. Parakeets and parrots need it to keep their beaks trimmed down. They would appreciate the little mineral salt wheels, too.

If you give them a good diet designed for mice and rats, like lab block, they should breed just fine. If you need to change their diet, do it gradually.
