 Fire belly newt care?

Does anyone know the best food for my fire belly newt because it doesn’t eat the crickets I give it, I just drowns them.

Also, how deep do you think the water in the tank should be?

they eat blood worms, tubiflex worms, earth worms, Mosquito larvae.

The depth should be 4-6 inches at least.
