Tank set-up for fire belly newt
Little less than half is water (3.5-4 inches) other side is coco fiber. I have a filter for the water java moss is on the way and also I’m going to buy some water plants. I’m going to culture the tank for a week before getting the chinese fire bellied newt in there. |

we now have 2 baby newts in it now..they’re adorable and they snuggle..hahaha it makes me happy though i think they all do that. (my first amphibian, not counting a couple of frogs my mom had when i was little) it’s fiber from coconuts. cocofiber is known as bed-a-beast but there are other brands of it too. it’s a brick you soak in hot water for about half an hour and then you squeeze out the water with your hands as you put it in the tank, we used a whole brick to make all of that land in that tank though. it’s never more than 5 bucks, and it’s in most petstores (petsmart, etc.) it’s quite nice, a lot of reptiles/amphibians use it for bedding. |
