 Possibly getting a newt/salamander

I was looking into buying a newt or a salamander within the next few days. While I was at the beach, I had found a bullfrog? tadpole for which I had whent and bought a ten gallon tank for and some rocks and a fake plant and a water filter thing.. well when we whent to leave we didnt have room in the car for the tank to sit with water in it, so I let the tadpole go, now I have all that stuff so I was thinking about getting a newt or a salamander to put in it. I was wondering if you could tell me how much id need to fill the tank if I got one of these and how much to keep land. If you could post a picture of your newt or salamander tank that would be great too. Im not sure if my pet store sells newts or if they sell salamanders so what I get depends on what they sell. I know I should have a shelter in there for them too, and a big rock or two, how many fake plants? Should I only get one..? or two newts/salamanders?? Also whats the best thing to give them food wise?

It all depends on what kind you get. Some are fully aquatic, some half and half, and others terrestrial. All like live food and some prefer frozen. A hide is important. Everything else pretty much depends on which one you get.

Chinese? Japanese? or Paddletail?

You’ll want a filter and as for plants it depends on what you want. It should have at least two hides. Make sure there are no openings at the top of the tank because they are pretty good at escaping.Check here

well, a ten gallon tank would be good for 2 newts, (if you are getting firebellies) and if you are buying from a store, the newts are probably use to pellet food they sell at stores, but you will probably have to test a variety of foods to find what your newts (if you get them) will like=] if pellet food dosn’t work, try blood worms or even brine shrimp. I have 2 wild oregon newts that i rescued from my nabors dog, and i feed them little earth worms. hope it helps!
