 I need help!

I have a newt she’s about 6 years old now, for the first year of her live she lived in a small .5 gallon then for 4 years she lived in with my fbts (surprisly she lived) and then after that she s been living in a 2 gallon. Well she’s doing great so far. But get this, Her tank is on a shelft and below that shelf is my hermits tank with a cover on it and just a small opening. So i woke up on mornging and when i went to feed her she wasn’t there. So I was looking around for her when i found her in my hermits tank! I know my kids didn’t set her there ( the where at their grandmothers) so how did she get there?? She has no cover on her tank ( the tank is quit high and there for this has never been a a ishue) but the hermits tank has a cover on it and just a couple of places in witch she could have got in. She was covered in sand and it’s a surprise she lived ( seeing how she would have been eaten by my hermits) Also would this be a sign or something. Is she trying to tell my she doesn’t like her home. ( she’s a fire belly newt by the way)
ALso how long do they live for, does anyone have any caring tips on them or pictures of their tanks. I know how to care for them but you know it’s always good to know extra , but i was so scared i was going to loose her there.

thanks aniamlover!
and straw berry the newt

She definitely needs a secure cover on her tank. They are very well known to escape from the tiniest of openings. She could have smelled food or water which led her to the hermit crabs. As for care sheets Check this out.

you might also want to test your water with nitrate and ph test strips, you can get them at a pet store
