 Salamander/newt tadpole?

...I know they arent called that, but i recently got one from a boy i babysit because they didnt know what to do with him.
I have him in a 5 or so gallon tank with water plants in it and a little hill so he can climb out.
I have absolutly NO idea how to care for these and im not even sure what it is.
Any help is appreciated :)
I dont want to do anything wrong.
I will post pics as soon as i get them up

Can you get a better picture of its head and tail? Get rid of the gravel. What is it eating?

okay i figured the gravel wouldnt be good...what about just those black round pebble things...theres no way that could fit into his mouth.
And i dont know what to feed it. I tried dropping in a baby itty bitty lobster roach and some tubifex worm pellet things but from what i have seen it hasnt eaten.

I cant take a picture now because i have to get off the computer but i will have it on here by tomorrow.

As long as it can’t fit in its mouth it’s good.

Yes, they can climb out of the tank! Hopefully, it won’t figure that out until you get a cover.

You can try trout worms, cut up earthworms, crickets, bloodworms, etc. They really enjoy live food. Many eat the frozen bloodworms thawed out. If you can get it to eat what you’re feeding it that is fine.

aww yay, those are really pretty :)
He came out on land today for the first time so i moved him into a temporary half water half land thing.
I offered him some baby lobster roaches today too but he just seem annoyed by them.
Are they like frog tadpoles in that they dont eat their first week on land?

Okay he/she is still not eating!
Its been a long time and I offer him itty bitty lobster roaches everyday.
He wont eat dried tubifex worms, the roaches, and he is too little for the crickets.
and i cant find any worms.
ughhh
He still seems active so how long can i try to keep him?
