 Salamander Bulge

Hi Everyone:

I have a Chinese Fire Belly Newt, and lately he has had this bulge on the side of his head. Anyone know what this is from? He only has it on the one side. He eats fine and is acting normally. I have had him for about 8 years and he has never had any problems.
