 Need help identifying a salamander...

At least I THINK it is a salamander. This thing is huge! My 7 year old son loves all creatures and my husband brought home this ’creature’ last night. We have no idea what type of salamander it is or how we should set up a habitat for it or if we should let it go. We live in south Texas and he found it at work. He said they sun bathe a lot during the day. These are not very good pictures but hopefully someone can help me identify it and make a home for this big guy/girl soon.

Not a salamander......

Its a broad head skink.

I to live in southern texas and you should Definantly let it go

its a really pretty one despite the cut off tail
