Fire salamander tank and hibernation
so im getting 2 fire salamanders and im wondering because i want to buy live plants and keep them in their pots,if i can use potting soil, then put something like a layer of eco earth on the top of the soil,so i dont have to buy a lot of eco earth. Also,i was wondering if you have to hibernate fire salamanders in order to breed them.Or if they just breed with raise in tempature.

Plants are a good idea, I use tough ones like pothos that can easily take low-light conditions -- in fact i like to plant them directly in the substrate rather than keep them in their pots, because they grow better that way, and also the roots fulfill the function of absorbing wastes and keepinfg the soil clean... I do not know much yet about hibernation and/or breeding, I have much to learn about that, frankly I just feel fortunate that I have finally begun to learn how to keep them alive and healthy!
Where are you buying your fires?? -- I’m interested in possibly getting one ortwo more myself...

For some reason they never seem to have any reptile shows around here that I know of, I wish they did... looks like I’m going to have to go online sources again if i want to buy them... plase keep me posted if you see any good deals on them.
