When we got them.. they all looked really good. Except for one that was missing a piece of his tail. The other two were really healthy, very active... all the normal stuff you look for. Well for the first few days they were all doing great. Then we noticed a little white spot on the one with the missing tail... then a little later.. he died. Ok, no real big mystery, right? Infection from his tail... well then another one developed some white on his head... then later he died. We are down to 1 little newt. And, we have noticed a little white on him... but, so far he seems to be doing really good. We have done some water changes and we tried treating him before... and now we are going to try Myacin. Any ideas as to what this mysterious white stuff is? It resembles ick.. do newts get ick? Any ideas/info would be appreciated. -MaL |

Message To: Megan mcconnell In reference to Message Id: 673847 I finally got 3 newts.. now slowly they are dying off. What’s going on?!
In the mean time, take your newts out of their tank (you will need to find something to keep them in for a little bit) and clean everything as thoroughly as you possibly can. I think that Megan is suggesting that you boil everything. That is a good idea. Good luck and keep us posted on how your surviving newts are doing. |
