 Where are the newts for sale?

Anyone know where I can buy a newt? My son (age 9) has been wanting a newt for a long time. Has the tank and everything he needs, but after calling 9 pet stores, no one has them. They all say that their newt breeders havn’t had any for months. What is going on? Any ideas. We live in Minnesota. Thanks!!!

I got my newt from the wild. (Saved him from a bird). I’m not sure what pet stores would sell them. Did you try pet smart or pet co (if they are in your area. I’m in Central New York).

None of the pet stores here sell them because they are wild here. Just go look for a warm rock near the woods. you can usually find them. (in Central NY that is)

If your son gets sick of waiting for a newt, maybe he would like an anole chameleon. They are very active little things, small and inexpensive. buy 3 or 4 of them and watch ’em play. it’s fun. You really can’t hold them, but you can’t really hold newts either.

Sorry I couldn’t help much.. But like I said try one of the Large pet store chains.
