Im sorry to hear. Scorpions really dont have any vetrenary practice, since they are essentially bugs. Any number of things could have made him sick, anything from internal parasites to cleaners or air fresheners in the air.

Yeah sucks to hear something similar happened to my asian forest scorpion. He stopped eating after I fed him a small roach. Maybe that made him sick but he stopped eating after that and I too wanted to check up on him and he was barely moving. Temp was also at around 80 and humidity at about 75-90%

Your emperor scorpion look very chubby in the picture, maybe overfed is the caused of death.

I’m assuming the person who gave you the scorpion overfed it. How long did you have it before it died? Beside from being overfed, could died from infection, disease, cause of stress, or old ages. It sounded like you really cared for his well being. Get an Emperor scorpion, they are very gentle.

Beside keeping the temperature and humidity at the correct level (don’t fully cover the enclosure because that will cause mold to grow), feed it no more than twice a week (only one cricket should be in the enclosure at a time & make sure to take out any uneaten part).

A water dish should alway be available to the scorpion. Use some wood lodge and a lot of substrates such as coconut fiber for your scorpion to dig and hide. ( You might want to bake the substrate and wood lodge even from store bought because they may contain bugs that can harm your scorpion). Don’t use air freshener or any chemical around them.

Don’t use heat rock or heat mat. Those two are ineffective at warming up the enclosure and also posed health risk to your scorpion, instead use a ceramic basking light with a thermostat to maintain desire temperature.

Finally don’t stress the scorpion out by handling it too much.

Feel free to ask me any question regarding above or anything you want to know, I’m still inexperienced with Emperor scorpion so I can only try my best to help you out.
