Aggressive Emperor Scorpion 
Hey,
I recently bought a juvenile male emperor scorpion, just under 2 inches without the tail. Ive noticed that its very aggressive, ive never seen other ones act like it does. Its will use its tail almost instantly and multiple times, for example when i try to pick him up. Ive seen videos and pet store workers handle them with ease. Is his aggression due to him beign a juvenile or did i just happen to get a emperor scorpion with anger management?? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It could be adjusting to the new environment, or it could be ill-tempered. I have one that from the time I got here would not hesitate to sting.

Yes, it could be settling in still. But they could of sold you something els rather than a emperor scorpion, can you post pictures. I know one time i bought a tarantula from a privately owned pet store and it turns out that its not even he species it was labeled.

I agreed that scorpion can be mislabel in store especially since Emperor and Asian forest scorpion look similar. Emperor are docile and the venom is very mild while Asian forest scorpion are aggressive. If you just bought it, let it adjust to the new environment. Juvenile can play apart of it although I’m not sure. I believe their personality can also attribute to their behavior. I got mine not too long ago and it has never uses it stinger on its prey, let alone to try and sting me. Mine is an adult male Emperor, not only is he gentle, today he slept in my hand. If you want to pick it up, first make sure he is aware that your hand is in his presence then either use both your hand and scope it up from the side or lay one hand in front of him and use your other hand to scope him from behind. Never pick it up from the tail.

it could be mislabeled, or it could just be ill tempered. Just because most emperors are docile, there are feisty ones too. I had one that was gentle, however my remaining one is very feisty and has been since I got her. She pinches and stings every chance she gets.

Ive had him for overa month now so hes pretty well adjusted, and i have made sure that he has everything he needs in terms of temperature and housing. I will post pics up as soon as i get some and i figure out how to on this forum, as im new here. He may have been mislabled but i highly doubt that. Ive looked up pics of juveniles and he looks exactly like an emperor juvenile, however i know there is a chance its a mistake. I attempted to scoop him up jus ta few minutes ago and he tried to sting me, i moved my hand just in time and there were two drops of venom on the glass lol. The reason i got an emperor is because they are supposed to be docile and i wanted to handle him, but theres no way. I reall ywant to sell him now and get a more docile one.

He really sounds like a Asian forest Scorpion. They look very very alike. Can you post a picture of the whole body and make sure you get a good view of the claws

what color is his stinger... cause from looking at pictures the emperor has like a brownish golden stinger and the malaysians is black... i could be wrong but thats the main difference i see in them

Claws are the giveaway on an emperor they are very round and bumpy while the asian forest has a slimmer and smooth looking claw.
