ok i have herd its best to keep the under tank heater on the side, but i have kept them on the bottom also. for substrate i would use eco earth or bed a beast(they are the same thing). humidity should be kept around 80-85 percent. If you are having trouble maintaining humidty you can either build a wooden top or cover it with alluminum foil or seran wrap, just make sure there are small air holes. if also helps if you mist the enclosure daily. i am also a snake fan but the scorpions grew on me fast haha. good luck and keep us updated.

just wanted to add on no heater should ever be put underneath the tank, the reason for this is that scorpions burrow alot, they also burrow to avoid heat, so they will burrow down and get cooked because they are getting hotter. So basically mount ur heat mat on the back of the tank, eco earth is fine, temo is best at 80f and humidity is 80-85, pinkies should not be fed as a staple and if you intend to feed pinkies once a month is more than enough as scorpions have very slow mtabolisms, pinkies are not neccesary in captivity, and you would be better off sticking to locusts etc. Most pandinus imperators will eat about 3 locusts in one sitting once a week if they dont all get eaten remove whats eft over.
