they are pretty cool looking scorpions, but unfortunately I don’t know much about them. Since they reach about 4 inches in length, I would say a 5.5 gallon tank is suitable for 2 of them. I like smaller enclosures because I can keep an eye on them and know where they are usually. Small tanks take up less space as well and feeding is much simpler. However, the max I would go is 10 gallons for 2. However, I do not know if this species is communal, they may very well eat each other. Here’s a site I found not of your species, but of similar ones: http://www.thegreenscorpion.com.au/showconcats.toy?cnid=44056 These scorpions can also be found burrowing or digging shallow shelters under rocks or pieces of wood so I would suggest putting in some drift wood for hides. If you plan on using objects outside of the pet store, I would also recommend oven baking it at about 350 degrees F for about 25-30 minutes to kill any harmful parasites. I have also read that they enjoy more warm and dry conditions since it is not a rainforest species. However, it does require a little humidity. I read that they live in heathland habitats, so for the substrate I would mix peat or coco fiber with sand. Keep the enclosure well ventilated to help lower the humidity. If the humidity is too high, the scorpion could get mycosis. I wouldn’t keep the substrate totally dry, but i’d keep it a little moist. Provide a water dish at all times and feed them about 2-3 times a week. hope this helps! |

I found A glass tank that’s an octagon 30cm deep and about 21Liters but has a solid glass lid with only one finger size hole in the middle to lift the lid and a small 2mm gap around the edge, so i don’t know if it will be ventilated enough. And i don’t want to buy it if it wont suit. So do you think it will work? |

yeah same here, I hate doing all that online stuff and then having to wait for the scorp to arrive, hopefully alive too lol That seems to be a good sized tank, but yeah, the ventilation doesn’t sound too good. Is it possible for you to take a pic of it? I actually use an XL kritter keeper for my 2 asian forest scorpions, looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0002APZOO/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=284507&s=kitchen I like them because they’re much cheaper than glass enclosures and are a lot lighter. But yea, try to find another tank if you can, but if not, then keep the substrate a little moist. Put in a water dish as well. |

And thank you for the link to the picture. I think I’d still prefer a glass tank though. I cant get any photos of octagon the tank, If i were to get it i think i might be able to make sum sort of spacer to lift the lid off the tank a couple mm even a cm. which would improve the ventilation but might give it a gap big enough to get out of if it were able to get high enough up the tank it also allows other bugs to possibly get in. |
