Blue Tongues Apparently, they do indeed have a terrible bite - I’ve heard it likened to a shark bite. But I’m not sure I’ve ever talked with anyone who has actually been bitten. I’ve been nibbled.
BTS are omnivorous, so they eat veggies and meats. Some people feed them dog or cat food. I feed mine cooked chicken (and they will ONLY eat baked - by ME - chicken), a variety of fruits and veggies. Mine don’t seem to care for beef or ham. They loooove scrambled eggs but get them rarely, and when they do, I crunch up the shell right in there too, for the calcium (:
They aren’t fast, they get to btwn 15-22" long, and most of them are holdable.
For an adult BTS, a 48w x 24d x 18-24h is great.

Blue Tongues i went to a reptile expo like two years ago, and a breeder we were talking to about bts’s told us a story about how a little girl had her huge northern on her shoulder the whole time during an expo, and he said it bit her on the ear and she was bleeding like hell. and then he said she needed stitches, so i never let my gigas climb up to my shoulder. yah he’s smaller, but it scared the pants off me! i doubt he was lying either, but who knows. just figured i’d tell yall.

Blue Tongues  If I was sitting on someone’s shoulder in a place with dozens of giants wandering around, screaming and poking fingers at me, I’d bite someone on the ear too (;

Blue Tongues my bts has bit me, and I didn’t find it too bad, except for the fact that it was quick, like an alligator> it mostly scared me, and it did bleed abit. I have an african grey parrot and I’d say her bite was way worse!!!

Blue Tongues lol, yah, i can totally see why the bts bit her, i’m sure that it was prob. getting pretty stressed. 3 hours of walking around and being petted by hairless monkeys would make almost anybody go insane...unless your dead or something! lol jk

Blue Tongues I was bitten by my monkey tail once...it stung pretty badly and was itchy and swollen for a few days.you have to be careful with reptile. Ites because of the types of bacteria I their mouths,makes it easy to get an infection

Blue Tongues Arrgh, poor you :( I have been bitten by all of my monkey tails except the baby and my overly-placid huge male, but they have all been though gloves and even that was bad enough. I wouldnt like to feel the actual teeth!

Blue Tongues yeah it was really quick, i’m not sure if i startled her maybe. Either way it was pretty painful. I didn’t make a big deal of it because at the time i was trying to convince my roomate Lois is ok to hold haha. That was a good 5 months ago though and hasn’t bitten me since. Normally Lois likes being up on my arm or neck or head haha, however i discourage her being on my head now because she peed on my head one night before i had a presentation for one of my classes haha.
