 Blue tongue skink breeding? age? pregnant?

hello. I’m not new to these guys as pets I kept one for 3 years before I had to cut my collection down.. well about a month ago I got 2 that where sexed at a herp specialist vet... one was said to be for sure female and because the other is a bit smaller they weren’t poitive but gave it a 60 percent possibility of being a girl as well..

when I got them they were close in size the bigger one being maybe an inch longer and a little thicker but now the bigger one shot up in size gaining close to 2 inches and way more girth.. the smaller has grown almost an inch and fattened a little "about as fast growing as the first one I had years back" I plan on breeding at least once when they are over 2 years... they are what I was told a little over one.. I’ve done tons of reading on the topic of breeding but not much detail or consistancy in what I read..

I did read about a guy who had a 11 month old girl and a 3 year old male ... said his wife put them in a cat carrier to do some cage cleaning and that was the only time they were together then 3 and a half months later 4 babies were found in his tank... now this is from a female who was only 10 inches.... everything I read says they aren’t sexually mature til they are at least 1 and a half other people said 2.. even some said 3... wonderful internet and books...

anyways how old do they become sexually mature?

how do u tell when they are pregnant? "read a few blog type things about the owner never noticed anything irregular no weight gain nothing out of the norm"

that’s all th questions sorry for the rambling maybe someone here has bred and knows the answers.. thanks in advance

I am also curious on how old they should be before breeding. Is there an age/wieght requirement for a BTS

If I remember right from my own research - and you’re right, the info out there is scarce and contradictory - they’re usually about 2 yo before they begin to breed. Generally you can’t tell when they’re pregnant. You can take them back to that herp vet and they could do xrays (ultrasound won’t penetrate the hide) and that’s about it.

I also have two females, although I became convinced a couple months ago that one of them must be male and they’d bred without brumation and at the wrong time of the year, because one of them was gaining weight and, well... looked pregnant! Even down to heavy, labored breathing. This is how I know ultrasound doesn’t work on them (:
