 Diet for a golden skink

hi i want a lizard which i can handle, and dosnt eat crickets. i dont like blue tongued skinks. if i cant find one of these then i will get a snake. my mum hates crickets and wont let me keep them. can i feed a golden skink everything in its diet exept crickets?

i feed mine mealies which it loves but big staple is crix and ive tried diff things but to no avail...stick with the norms it eats i guess
