Well, there I was at my local petstore to buy crickets, and I happened to see a baby 5 lined skink . . . it was out and about, and I gotta say, I was captivated watching it. . . so captivated that I went home, fed the other pets, did some google research, then went back and got it . . .

sigh . . . so much for no more animals. I’m not quite sure how to tell my husband . . . lol.

Anywho, it’s all set up in it’s temporary enclosure (10 gallon spare tank w/ heat pad and uvb, coconut fiber/dirt mixture to burrow in) He’s getting a 20 gallon on Friday when I get paid. . . so far he’s munched down one cricket that I’ve seen, and judging from the rustling under his leaf hide, he may have gotten more. . . not bad for his first night home! I’ll put up pictures in a few days probably, after he’s had time to settle in. Any tips would be great; I’ve never had a skink before!!

Alright, he came out and started doing some glass dancing (no doubt still quite stressed from the move, although not too stressed to eat lol) and I just happened to have my camera next to me, so here’s the new baby skink!

He was fifteen dollars . . . I still haven’t told my husband that I got another lizard lol . . . he thinks the tank is set up for me to breed crickets in it . . . oops . . .

What a cute little guy! How was his cage at the pet store?

How big do they get in size? What are their basic living needs? Cause there is a 5 lined skink at petco and I may be interrested... =]

They’re not native to this state. In Maine we only have salamanders, no lizards. I couldn’t believe the first time I went to Florida, and all over the place are the anoles from the petstores! I thought it was pretty neat! I’m envious of those of you who can go out and catch cool things in your backyard . . .

It sure is cute. Glad you were able to get one way up there. I will admit to living in Florida and having caught one (in my living room nonetheless). It was my first lizard and have gotten addicted to them.

It is pretty neat that i can go outside and catch lots of different things because I live in Florida.One time in one day I caught a five lined skink,2 Red ear sliders,An opossum,A garter snake,And a kitten.
