Since he was lost then found again (cat, long story, check it out on the beardie community forums) I"ve been so paranoid . . . I keep wanting to go through the substrate and look for him to make sure he’s still there! I guess that would just stress him out though, so I’m resisting the urge!

Good call. Restraining that urge can be hard, but they really do hate it so much.

Yeah, I just need to be content with a pet that I can’t see all the time . . . I just need to keep telling myself that the animal is probably happier NOT being seen . . . I also read online that 5 lined skinks are very shy as babies, and are never really easily handled, so I guess there’s nothing wrong with a display animal anyway (too bad he’s not "on display" very often lol). . . still, I am very glad my cat didn’t eat him!!!

I have a 5 lined skink too, I found him wandering through my living room and decided to take him in. It’s been an adventure getting to know how to care for him.

You have a nice setup for him, Trickster looks good.

Hey, thanks! He (or she) is very shy, and will only come out when he thinks I’m not in the room . . . it is a cool little lizard, no doubt!
