 Schneider’s skink

Hi all, i just purchased my first skink. A Schneider’s skink. It’s about 6 inches long. I just noticed after i brought her home that she has 2 abrasions on her scales. One is on the back near the hind legs and the other is near the base of the tail. Should i be worried? It was housed with several other lizards. will this just go away after the next shed. I will try to get pics but it is hard to see with the camera. TIA

 Schneider’s skink

depends on what it is

if it is just damaged scales it may become better after several sheds

if it was housed with a bunch of other animals it might only be that and may never look normal but should look a bit better eventually

when i first got my bts he had some damaged scales, some look normal now and some are still damaged and i have had him for hmmm 2 years?

 Schneider’s skink

ok thanks alot. I have a couple other questions if you wouldn’t mind answering them. Besides crickets and mealies, what kind of vegetables/fruits does yours like (if it eats any) also how long do they usually stay under the sand and do they stay out of the sand more once they get confortable with their surroundings? thanks.

 Schneider’s skink

i dont have a sneiders

but they dont eat many veggies mostly just bugs

offer him dark leafy greens like mustard, collard, etc and any kind of squash if you want

careful with sand though some can cause impaction and if it isnt kept clean it can cause bacterial and eye infections

but i have found that they stay burried alot

we had one at work before and he was always buried but would come out and bask for a few hours a day but not for long
