Need hamster experts needed:) Avoid getting a wire cage because the hamster will kick out his bedding and it will be all over your floor. A small glass terrarium keep the bedding inside and will be easier to clean.

Glass holds in the phenols from the urine and bedding, and doesn’t provide good ventilation, which can lead to respiratory infections, which would be pretty difficult to treat (yes, a lot of people do treat it successfully) in such a small animal. Get a wire cage with a high plastic base, and with multiple levels if you can afford it. Carefresh and aspen are the best types of bedding in most peoples’ opinions, and be sure to provide adequate chew toys.
Good luck!
Hope this helps

Need hamster experts needed:) I’ve always bought my hamsters the cool, ’hampster cages’ with all the tubes and what not connected, ever hampster i’ve had loved those. It gives them something to do and most of them already come with a built in wheel. You need to have assorted chew toys for him/her. I wouldnt use a wire cage, if I was you. There little feet can get caught in the bars, wire on the sides is fine, wire on the floor is a no, unless you plan on covering it with something before you put your hampster in it. And when you go to pick out your hampster make sure hes the cutest and cuddliest :] Clear eyes, friendly, no sneezing and what not, and you should be fine. :]

Personally, I’d avoid purchasing a cage for your hamster that has tons of tubes and tunnels. Cages like that are a pain to clean. Not to mention, a lot of them fall appart easily.

Need hamster experts needed:) I agree with sensho. The plastic cages with tubes and stuff are HUGELY annoying to clean and the hamsters escape from them all the time. A simple aquarium or wire cage is much better. If you like tubes, put them inside the cage instead.

Need hamster experts needed:) I bought habitrail cages for all my hammies :) They enjoy it and you could later add tunnels, mazes, and more cages to it! For bedding I use fluff, or toilet paper, and for the floor of the cage, wood chips.

Need hamster experts needed:) Haha. They are called pocket pets, but hate being in pockets. I’ve actually tried once because my dog was about to jump on my hamster, I put my hammie in my pocket and she went nuts!

i just got a hamster recently and got her the new habitrail ovo blue maze. i took the cardboard out and used it as a normal cage instead of an add - on. Buy the trainer from habitrail ovo!!! its perfect and you can jam it at night to keep your hamster from spinnindg on it. It may sound cruel but its not, and my hamster gets some sleep too!! use carefree bedding its the best!!! hope i was helpful. ( i can give you more detailed info and helpful sites if you send me messages!!
