 Hello!

I would not catch wild crickets and feed to my pet even fresh. You do not know if they could have an insecticide of them or what they have eaten. Also the crickets you get at the pet store are different than the ones in your back yard . The have a much softer body . If you freeze any cricket then feed it to your pet, the crickets loose all nutrition and moisture . Its better to gut load fresh store bought crickets or just raise your own.It is not hard to raise crickets.

 Hello!

The smell is usually dead crickets . They don’t smell so bad if you keep them in a clean container that is well ventilated and remove any old food or dead ones asap.

 Hello!

well if they are for hamsters you could really just buy a few every once in a while when you went to the petstore

they are not like reptiles where they are a staple food sorce they are more for an occasional treat

 Hello!

Lol. Unfortunately the ease of caring for them would be eliminated if you wanted to keep it completely smell free. No matter what, they stink! They die constantly so you’d have to clean it like twice a day, and even then it’s their sweat and poop that stinks.

If it’s just a treat, pick up a can of freeze dried crickets at the pet store on occasion. They aren’t super healthy, but they’ve got some good protein and make a good treat. Plus then you don’t have to freeze them : )

 Hello!

i would definatly not do that

the dont generally eat other rodents and that would be small step away from cannibalism

just stick with normal hamster food and occasional crickets

you can also try veggies and baked chicken breast if you want
