they can definatly tell you what to do and if he vet is giving you the correct information and if you are feeding the correct food(which could have caused this)

There are numerous articles stating that small amounts of yogurt should be given twice a day if the Chin is on antibiotic therapy. Yogurt is the one animal protein that actually aids in digestion and okay for a Chin. I would call your vet . I am sure he will agree with me .

i do agree, just remember, yogurt has probiotics, probiotics provide beneficial bacteria for the digestive system, andthat is jsut what yogurt has. What I am wondering is if I should get prescribed probiotics.

I forgot to add, I tried chins-n-quills. I really like it and am glad you suggested it. I am very strict on my chinchilla’s feeding, so food isn’t usually an issue. my theory is that that my chin somehow got psuodomonia, causing his intestines to get infected. thanks for all the help!

acidopholus is a probiotic

and the reason why yogurt is not good is b/c they cannot digest dairy products

Your wrong about the yogurt . Chins should not have other dairy products but yogurt is the one that is recommend especially if they are on antibiotic therapy . Like I said call the vet I am sure he will agree .

ok i was wrong they can have the yogurt

but acidohpolus is better b/c it has more culture in it that yogurt

it has over one million in a tablet i think and he should be getting 1/2 a teblet

so while they can have yogurt the acidophilus is still better to add to their gut flora
