,_, help! ASAP 
Omg I dont know whats wrong, ,_, I whent to give my rat some food this morning and he was jerking really bad and was just laying in one spot I picked him up and hes limp kind of dosnt fight or try to get away, when he walks he stays really close to the ground when hes breathing he makes this loud squeaky noise and his breathing is really rough and he opens his mouth every time he breaths like hes having a hard time, omg whats wrong with him?! Hes a little over three years ,_, I have him in my lap right now but hes still breathing really hard, ,_, omg someone help what should I do

A rats life expectancy is around 2 years old . Sounds like he is dying. If he is 3 then he has had a long life . There is nothing much that a vet could do at this point not to mention the cost of a vet visit . He would probably die before you got him in to the vet. Just keep him warm and try to make him comfortable . I know its hard but its part of life . Sorry that you have to go through it .

Sounds like your rat is dying of old age.]: Like everyone else said, make him as comfortable as possible. Make sure you hold him a lot in case he passes away so he will be with you. I’m so sorry for you and the rat.

Hey guys, I’ve had rats live as long as 6 years. I think the life expectancy is 3-5. He may or may not be dying of old age but it could be something else and a trip to the vet couldn’t hurt. Usually they don’t just go down hill in 1 day. They will slowly show signs of aging over a period of time.
