 Rat Tail

i have a Hairless Rat Her name is pipsqueek and i love her to death but i have a question about her tail. towards the end of it it kind of gets smaller like she may have broke it and it grey back is this possible? if not does it hurt her or what? it looks fine i noticed it a few weeks shortly after i got her she may have already had it and i just hadn’t noticed it i got her for 3$ because she was a feeder that was a pet for sale but no one bought. she is the sweetest thing ever. also i have her in the same cage with my other female rat Tinkerbell i notice they scwabble and fight sometimes is this normal and they are just learning their places with one another or am i just gonna have to separate the two of them??

they are just arguing. it could be for dominance or just for a favorite item or treat. as long as there is no blood or serious fighting, separation isn’t necessary. does the tail curve or like indent at all? i have a rescued rat who’s tail was caught in a trap and broke and grew back and now is indented. i wouldn’t worry too much about it unless it is degloved (which your description says it isn’t), it has something severely wrong like big lumps or something, or it seems to bother her. my boy is fine with his tail and it is barely noticeable. i just know because he was still healing when i rescued him.

well it’s noticeable because it doesn’t have the same thickness as the rest of the tail it just kinda drastically gets thinner it doesn’t sem to bother her but i was just curious there is a slight bump in a ring all the way around but it’s very small and barely noticeable unless you rub it. but oh well her deformities make her unique and the way she is so i just making sure it wasn’t something to worry about.

yeah i meant like a large tumor kinda bump. and yeah it should be fine though that makes it sound like a nice chunk came off rather than it broke. my guy’s is inverted a bit like a small v like his snapped. but he’s heading on two with no problems from it. her’s really sounds just like it got shaved off all around somehow. though i can’t picture anything that would cause that. i like animals with deformities. it makes ’em all the cuter. and hairless ratties are so awesome.

yeah i was amazed i got her for 3$ though because the pet shop was selling them for 30$ and i brought 40$ to come buy one and they were gone. we asked about them. and they put them in the breeder/feeder collection in the back because no one had bought them in about 8 months so they gave me her for 3$ we were gonna go back for another but my stepdad said no more ratties for awhile i LOVE them though. they make the best furry pets a person could want!

yup except not furry (maybe a tiny bit) but their skin is so warm. good luck with her. here’s to hoping someone rescues all the rest of the feeders too.
