 Degu info and care!

so if any experience degu owners out there actually know what they are talking about hit me up. so heres the story we bought supposibly 3 males... which turned out to be 2 males and 1 female. so the males fight to blood. so i had to separate them. not knowing they were fighting over a female. and no i have 8. so i had to build a really big cage lol. and the babies are about 2 months old. about half size of parents. but i was told males get along with males? as long as no female is present. so i put the males together and sure enough. fighting.

was the fighting major fighting or just scuffling?

if they are new they will fight to establich dominance
as long as it isnt going on 24/7(especially to the same degu) and there are no injuries they should be fine

also it is a good idea to gradually intorduce new ones in a nuetral area (like the bathroom) for a few days at least and then totally cleaning the cage so no ones scent is in there

also you dont want to put the babies back in with mom and the other girls b/c at this age i beleive they are old enough to mate and you will end up with more babies

ok well i originally had one cage. then converted to two. ended up with babies made three. i got a double stacker i made and a small store bought. they fight for blood. and i introduced them to a brand new built cage.
