 Baby mouse questions

so today i was given a baby mouse... i dont know how old it is or if its a girl or boy or anything else. the ’mouse cage’ i got for it is the smallest i could find, but the bars are far ehough apart that he gets right out... so i need to know both how to make a mouse proof home for him and what to feed him because thus far he only wants the grape. i really dont know anything about mice so any help is loved.

A ten gallon tank with screen top would be fine. If not they sell "Critter Keepers" at Petco and Petsmart they are equal to a 5 gallon tank. That is what I have my male mouse in. If you do not have mouse food I suggest buying the mouse blocks they sell at the pet stores. For now though if he has NO food you can give him a little cat or dog kibble. Definately get some mouse food within a day or so as the cat and dog kibble is not adequate for a mouse to live on. You can put in with him/her and empty paper towel roll or toilet paper roll. Mice love those things. Best of luck. They really are alot of fun.

 Baby mouse questions

That’s the food I use for my mouse. That is fine. I said the blocks because alot of people prefer them. That sounds like a little mansion you made for him/her. Do you know the sex yet? If you end up with a girl than she would LOVE a roommate. Female mice do VERY well together and actually prefer the company. Male mice will kill each other. I have had it happen. It is not fun :( The females may bicker for a day or two but then you will see them curled right up next to each other. Introduce the females right after a good cage/tank cleaning. Oh and as a weekly treat I give my Mr. Jingles 3 Cheerioes. He loves them. I think you got everything covered. Have fun with him/her. Try to handle him/her daily. My mouse loves to be held. he jumps right on my hand. Here is a pic. of him. I would love to see yours. Oh yeah what did you name him/her?

Here is my "little fatboy" lol

Here is a litter of mice I had back in 2-8-08 My Mr. Jingles is in the pile somewhere....lol

This is a pic of my Mama mouse nursing her babies.....well she had got up and they were still attatched. My Mr. Jingles is the gray one :) I miss them as babies :( Ok well enjoy the pics and let me know if you have other questions.
