 Rat with Mites ):

My rat has mites. I’ve been trying to get rid of them for months. She’s even been getting $40 shots! And I also put Seven powder on her. Her skin is still itching a bit. What should I put on her skin to calm it down because there’s still sores and scabs on it?

Where are the mites? if they are in her ear put vegi oil in there and that will drown them out...

Put vegetable oil in a rat’s ear? Hmm.. Doesn’t sound too safe.

I’ve heard of putting vegetable oil on the skin to help "drown" them... But not in their ears.

When my rat had mites, I went down to the local feed store and purchased some Ivermectin (horse wormer). You only have to give them a rice sized amount. And I think you give a second dose two weeks later.

If you scrub the cage down, give them a bath, and give them the Ivermectin - which is what I did - it worked wonders.
