Putting one down. ): Well my rat echo is in really bad shape. D: Hes about 4 4 1/2ish, realllly old. I believe hes blind in both eyes, hes got the flim stuff over it. He stopped eating the other day, and then today he stopped drinking. ): He got reallly skinny and he cant really walk on this back legs. He also got these lumps on him.. If anyone could tell me what they are that would be great.. I thought they were tumors but they ended up getting really big and turning black then they popped and oozed like.. thick green goo. And it smells rotten.. I feel so bad, I give him the best care though.. Did he get a parasite or something? Well.. anyways. My dad told me that if hes not dead by monday then hes going to take him and put him down monday. ): Im gunna miss him so much. My dad said that hes going to buy me a new rat though--- after i’ve scrubbed teh cage clean. So im kind of excited about bringing a new ratty home, not very happy about putting down my baby though. ):

Putting one down. ): It sounds like Echo had a great life. 4 1/2 years is such a long life for a rat! The lumps on the back of his legs sound like abscesses. Just make sure to keep the wounds clean. As you said if they were tumors they wouldn’t have popped. I’m sorry that you have to put him down, but he sounds like he’s in a lot of pain. I hope he passes happily =). My buddy Sammy is about a 1 1/2 old and I really don’t know what I’ll do when he dies. He’s the best rat I’ve ever had. I’m already worrying that his lifespan is about halfway over. Good luck with your new baby by the way! Make sure to post pics.

Putting one down. ): I am very sorry! It is never easy, but it is better to put them down than to watch them suffer.

Putting one down. ): Yeah, everyones like "4 1/2? geez!" Hes like a 100 year old little man, you can see it in his face. Im keeping them clean, I moved him into a dog carrier with paper towels on the bottom so that bedding stuff cant get to it, where he has a water bottle and a food bowl in there, and his little bed thing, I leave the dog carrier on the bed so that he can be close to me. I feel so bad for him, seeing him like this just makes me want to break down and cry. ):
As for the new baby, I happend to find a ratty breeder about an hour from my house, im getting a siamese dumbo baby boy (: 8-9 weeks old. Im really excited. Hopefully gunna pick him up sometime this week, and I will post lots of picturess.

Putting one down. ):
Well, I got woke up this morning to echo on his side breathing on his last little breaths. I held him until he passed away, its so hardto go through that. I cried for a straight hour. Hes in a better place now though, playing with all his little ratty friends in rainbow bridge healthy as can be (: Rest in peace, my dear baby echo. <3

Putting one down. ): I am sorry for your loss and I know exactly what you mean. One of my hamsters died in my hands, and while working at the vet I have had more than one dog die in my arms.
