no they will not let the male mate with them if they are pregnant

also you should have the male seperate of she is expecting

he will mate with her again immediatly after giving birth and she will end up having 2 litters in a row which is VERY hard on the female it takes alot out on them and they get very skinny and depleated of essential vitamins and minerals even when being fed a proper diet

when she goes into estrus put him in and then leave him in for a few days and then romove him

if she doesnt become pregnant then he or she may be unable to have babies

do you have homes planned for all the babies?

This is futurevettech, I have my name changed, she had babies. Vet says she will breed after having them but she won’t become pregnant, but it is nessasary to remove the male either way because she will bully him. Which she was doing.

yes she will become pregnant

you need a new vet

i have had that happen to me

i bought 2 hamsters that were supposed to be males(dwarf) and at night i checked on them and they were fine and in the morning i checked on them again and she had babies

i seperated them IMMEDIATLY and still about a month later she had 5 more babies

it has happened at the store i work at too

seperate him now
and expect more babies in about a month
and a VERY skinny mom

i told you you should seperate and now the mom is going to suffer for it
it is VERY difficult and VERY hard on them when they have babies twice in a row like that

do you have plans for all the babies? what are you going to do with them? are these quality breeding stock or just some random hamsters you picked up at the petstore and know nothing about their genetic history?

 Pregnant hampster

We are breeding for the pet store my aunt manages, we are not overbreeding her, the male was removed right after I saw the babies in the cage with mom, he looked like he had been beat up on anyways. The vet said they do something call postpone insemination, that they’ll breed but she won’t be pregnant the new litter until the babies are ready to be weaned. It sounded stupid to me, but I still had to remove the male. The babies are now fuzzies, three black and white, two cream and white, yes we know the genetics of the hampsters the guy we got them from had been breeding hampsters for pets stores all over. He didn’t want to do it anymore. We saw both parents, one of the grandparents, and all siblings. He didn’t imbreed. I never knew there was a such thing as a pedigree on hampsters, we chose ours for the health of the litter and parents, size of parents, and multi coloration of the litter. Huge variety of colors. Dwarf hampsters are a little different then teddy bears...... they are all hampsters true, but teddy bears are much larger and tend to have large litters. I have seen a litter of thirteen come from a teddy bear and the mother still be very healthy.

We only have five babies now, she won’t be bred again for probably another three or four months maybe longer.

sometimes they postpone insemination but it doesnt happen very often and more likly they abort the new babies b/c they know it will be too difficult to have them in a row and she aborts and then eats them

and especially with syrians they should never be housed together except for breeding they are very territorial and are NOT social with others of their own species probably why the male looked beat up

and while i dont know that they have detailed pedigrees there can be genetic problems that can be passed onto the young
also certain colors should never be bred b/c the babies they produce will be born without eyes or teeth and eventually die of starvation

glad you removed the male and that she wont be bred for a while
